Bolivia - Lagoons + Salt DesertsThe Salt flats tour was a 3 day overland Jeep trip that took us from San Pedro Chile to Uyuni Bolivia, taking in a multitude of sights in the Bolivian national park. These included bubblinggeysers, volcanoes and what seemed like a lagoon of every colour, some looking like a perfect mirror reflecting the awesome landscape plus the pinkflamingos they are home to. By the third day we had reached the worlds largest salt desert (Salar De Uyuni). This vast expanse of thick salt, where there once was a prehistoric lake and perfect hexagonal shapes form on the crust stretching out to a seemingly endless horizon.
Finland -Arctic TreesGetting to live a five minute walk from the ski hill in Salla meant I could be on the hill everyday, even just for a few runs. I managed to take this photo whilst on the button lift to the top. Capturing the magic snow covered trees in the evening light was well worth the risk of falling off. Salla might be in the middle of nowhere, but having awesome snow conditions, stunning landscapes, cosy cabins, northern lights and welcoming locals; what more do you need?
New Zealand - Tauparikaka + Remarkables I spent a year living in Queenstown, which is on New Zealands south island. Having a car meant I got to explore a lot of the Island. One of the bigger trips was along the west coast, up to the Fox Glacier. There's so many amazing places to stop on the way and take in the rugged coastline. This shot is looking out toward the Tasman Sea over the boardwalk and beach by Ship Creek in Tauparikaka Marine Reserve.
For the summer I worked across Lake Wakatipu at Walter Peak, which involved commuting on the Earnslaw steamboat everyday, whilst during the winter I worked on Coronet Peak, one of the nearby ski hills. This photo shows the Remarkables Mountain range. I captured the sunset on the mountains from the deck of the boat, on way back from work in late summer, just as the first touches of snow covered the peaks. A few weeks after this I was skiing at the Remarkables looking back down over the lake from the summit.
